The 2012 Jefferson County Dairy Princess and her court were crowned Friday at a banquet in their honor at the Italian-American Civic Association. The new princess, Kristia Otey, Adams Center, seated, is surrounded by her court, from left, dairy ambassadors Krystle Burger, Adams, Casey Porter, Watertown, and Danielle Simmons, Henderson, and alternate princesses Nicole Valin, LaFargeville, and Autumn Brownell, LaFargeville. The court will be on hand for this year’s Jefferson County Dairy Festival, which features ‘Agriculture on Display,’ from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. June 1 at the Dulles State Office Building, 317 Washington St. There will be agricultural displays and demonstrations, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.; meals and food available, 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.; crafters, exhibits and local produce, 3 to 9 p.m.; ‘Dairy on the Move’ parade, 6:30 p.m.; entertainment by Jeff Hawk and Troy O’Brien, 7 to 9 p.m.; a free giant ice cream sundae, 8:30 p.m.; and finishes with the parade winners announced, 9 p.m.

American rock/blues icon Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes will perform at 7:30 p.m. Friday at the Clayton Opera House. Southside’s first three albums, ‘I Don’t Want To Go Home,’ ‘This Time It’s for Real’ and ‘Hearts of Stone’ were produced by Steven Van Zandt and featured songs written by Van Zandt and Bruce Springsteen. Tickets for the Clayton Opera House show are $40 reserve and $35 general admission.  (BOB GRUEN)
