A Fort Drum man is jailed on allegations that early Sunday he pointed a pellet handgun at four people after they left a lower Franklin Street club, according to Watertown police.

Akeem O. Brewster, 21, is charged with fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon and four counts of second-degree menacing. Town of Watertown Justice Andrew N. Capone set bail at $1,000, sending him to the Metro-Jefferson Public Safety Building.

He additionally is charged on a warrant held by the Jefferson County Sheriff's Department with third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a vehicle.

The incident occurred at 12:40 a.m., apparently because of a verbal dispute he had in the club with some people, police said.

As the four people, identified as William and Jennifer Burnett, both 23, of Evans Mills, Kyle Schnurer, 22, of Admirals Walk, and Shanan Schnurer, 31, of Olmsted Drive, walked toward the municipal building parking lot, someone shouted, "He's got a gun ... run!" police said. They ran.

When a patrol arrived on Franklin Street, they found Mr. Brewster in a vehicle there, and also found a black compressed-air pellet gun. He denied the incident, but the victims identified him, police said.

Mr. Brewster also has another case pending in City Court. He was charged with disorderly conduct Jan. 24 after he attempted to pick a fight with a person in the 200 block of Factory Street, police alleged.
