GOUVERNEUR — The funeral for Jesse James McEathron, 18, of 311 W. Main St., will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Green Funeral Home, with the Rev. Wilfred J. Baez, pastor of Gouverneur United Methodist Church, officiating.
He died Thursday of injuries suffered in a motor vehicle accident in the town of Fowler. Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
He had worked at the Kinney Drugs warehouse in Gouverneur. He was a member of the Potawatomi Nation and an officer in the Marine ROTC program. He enjoyed fishing, bowling, video games and music and was an avid Denver Broncos fan.
Born Sept. 13, 1990, in Denver, Colo., son of Herbert Jr. and Dana Perez McEathron, he graduated in June from Gouverneur High School, where he played football and was a Section 10 wrestling champion. He received certification in the building trades program of Southwest Tech, Fowler, where he was top in his class.
Surviving are his father, of Gouverneur; his mother, Dana McCleary, Denver; his paternal grandmother, Rosalie McEathron, Gouverneur; his maternal grandparents, Anthony and Marlene Perez, Denver; a maternal great-grandmother, Marian Sorrell, Denver; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Herbert "Jamie" III and Tammy, and Aaron Michael, all of Gouverneur; three sisters and a brother-in-law, Wendy and Corey Stowell and Kristi McEathron, all of Gouverneur, and Makenzie McEathron, and her companion, Beau Young, Syracuse; aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
His paternal grandfather, Herbert McEathron Sr., and a maternal great-grandfather, Robert Coleman, died before him.
