PLEASE take notice that at the July 7, 2014 meeting of the Village of Sandy Creek, the following resolution was passed by the Board of Trustees of the Village of Sandy Creek. WHEREAS the Village Board of the Village of Sandy Creek finds that the office of Trustee and the Office of Mayor would be benefited from a longer term of office so as to provide greater continuity for the Village. It is the purpose of this resolution to expand the term of office for Village Trustee from two (2) years to four (4) years and to expand the term of office for Mayor from two (2) years to four (4) years, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Village Board of the Village of Sandy Creek hereby states that henceforth the term of office for Village Trustee shall be four (4) years and the term of office for Village Mayor shall be four (4) years, and FURTHER BE IT RESOLVED that this resolution is specifically intended to supersede the provisions of Article 3 of the Village Law of the State of New York to allow any Village Trustee or Village Mayor elected to serve a full four-year term. This Resolution is subject to permissive referendum pursuant to Village Law Section 3-302(5)(a) and shall become effective thirty days after publication of this resolution, unless a referendum is requested in which event it will become effective only after approval of the voters.
